Building Season Is Here

The following list is of some of the residential projects which require a
building permit. Failure to obtain a permit prior to starting work will
result in double permit fees as well as other potential fines and penalties.
So please call the Building Inspector, ICCI, at 630-551-4224, if
you’re unsure.

Any New Building Construction

ANY Swimming Pool which contains water over 24″ deep
(a separate fence permit may be required as well)

Attached Residential Garage

Decks or Balconies

Detached Residential Garage

Electrical Service Upgrade

Fences

Finishing a Residential Basement

Paved Driveway (Asphalt, Concrete)

Re-grading or adding dirt around Private Property
(altering natural drainage)

Residential Alteration / Remodeling:
including structural, electrical or plumbing

Residential Addition

Sidewalk on Public Property

Storage Shed

To obtain an application for a building permit, visit the village hall at 511 W Main Street, Kirkland, IL 60146. Code books and other helpful printed materials are available at the village hall.
