The Village of Kirkland is extending an invitation to you from the Lieutenant Governor of the State of Illinois to participate in a state-wide survey on Internet use and its impacts on the economic and social well-being of our state and its communities.

We strongly encourage all our constituents, businesses, and organizations to participate so that issues important to our sector are reflected in the State’s upcoming investments and plans for broadband connectivity, adoption, and utilization. We will have access to the results of this research and can share the results and analysis with you.

Please pass this invitation on to all other organizations, businesses, and households you serve. The link included in the Lieutenant Governor’s invitation accesses separate online surveys for organizations and households.

I am asking you to complete a new online survey about high-speed Internet usage that will help policymakers to understand how businesses and organizations like yourself can utilize high-speed Internet – also known as broadband – to access new markets, develop new ways of doing business and improve productivity.

Participating in this research project will help the non-profit Partnership for a Connected Illinois develop a comprehensive broadband strategy that will help you compete in the 21st century economy.

Procedures for Public Discussion Adopted

The Kirkland Village Board passed Ordinance 12-2 at it’s January 2, 2012 meeting, outlining the Procedures for Public Discussion.

ORDINANCE NO._12-02__

AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING PROCEDURES FOR PUBLIC DISCUSSION

WHEREAS, the Village of _Kirkland_ (hereinafter, the “Village”), _DeKalb_ County Illinois, is an Illinois municipal corporation; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Public Act 96-1473, the Illinois General Assembly recently amended the Illinois Open Meetings Act (“OMA”), 5 ILCS 120/1 et seq., to specifically require that any person shall be permitted an opportunity to address public officials under the rules established and recorded by the public body; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board has historically always liberally and openly encouraged public comment and discussion at its meetings; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board believes it is in the best interest of the Village to adopt specific procedures for public discussion at its meetings.

Mediacom Channels

On or around October 25th, 2011, a number of channels will be moving from their current channel locations. Mediacom is moving these channels to make it possible to launch their Ultra 50mbps high speed internet service around the first of the year and other future enhancements.

building permit. Failure to obtain a permit prior to starting work will
result in double permit fees as well as other potential fines and penalties.
So please call the Building Inspector, ICCI, at 630-551-4224, if
you’re unsure.
