Please be aware that Public Works makes every effort to provide a prompt, quality of clearing of the roadways within the Village of Kirkland. These gentlemen typically start clearing roadways at 3:00 A.M. in the morning and/or may be out till midnight that evening, depending on road and weather conditions. Our main emphasis and highest priority is a pass in each direction off the centerline of the roadway.
A couple of notes, Public Works makes every effort to minimize the amount of snow deposited at the end of driveways during their plowing by alternating blade angles as they approach the driveway. However, this may not always be possible based on the amount of snow being pushed or locating of driveway in relation to intersection of street or location in a cul-de-sac. Inevitable there will always be a build-up of snow at the end of driveways and the amount may differ from one driveway to another.
Secondly, the Village Ordinance states that all vehicles must be clear of street parking for any snowfall greater than 2″. Temporary parking on unimproved surfaces are acceptable during the snowfall and until snow clearing has been completed. As previously mentioned, Public Works focuses on clearing roadways in each direction from centerline before any other side clearing begins. Therefore, we will not come back immediately to to clear spots because cars have been moved after their initial passes. Public Works will return to those locations as soon as possible, but this may be 2 hours or up to 1 day.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding of these issues and hope that winter ends soon!! Thanks!
